    PGP Disk vs. Disk Utility

Does anyone have information on just how secure encrypted .dmg volumes created by Apple Disk Copy are compared to PGP Disks?

    Finally!

Its got a cocoa front end! You know what that means! Its native, not like that completely unnative Carbon c***. This is in Cocoa! OK, the front-end is in Cocoa, the rest is probably just standard BSD kind of stuff. Forget it then. The only Apps I want to use are Cocoa apps!

So, does this thing integrate with apple's mail program?

Ahh, a cocoa head..if it aint cross platform then I don't program it. Enough said...

    Kick a**

I have been waiting for this since PB.
I thought Apple would have built GPG (Gnu Privacy Guard) into the OS from day one and was disappointed.

I downloaded PGP this morning and I am very pleased. It's very nice and integrates seemlessly into Mail.app.

Well done. This is the best "beta" I have used in quite some time...much more complete and stable that any of the iApps' 1.0 releases.

    Well done!

    Cocoa vs. Carbon

Its nice that its a Cocoa front end, because it means they will be able to develop the GUI a lot faster.

Its a smart move on their part, I'm pretty positive the back end was probably about 90% written.

However, if they had found Carbon to be the best choice that would have been great. Anything that runs on OS X without Classic is native.

For those who dont know, Cocoa actually does some calls to Carbon to handle some stuff. Cocoa is just higher level and quicker to develop for specially if you got the back end written up.

So Cocoa / Carbon who cares so long as it works great :)

    PGP/MIME

Any word on whether the Mail.app plugin does PGP/MIME, or the stupid "inline pgp" that the Outlook plugin always did?

    PGP/MIME

Yes it does PGP/MIME or inline PGP - selected via a preference.

    PGP/MIME

Why is PGP/MIME better in your opinion?
I find inline easier to deal with--IMHO.

    PGP/MIME

PGP/MIME is the standard, and most applications other than Outlook don't support inline PGP very well. Basically, most people who use PGP in email (at least, those who I deal with) use PGP/MIME exclusively.

I'm glad to hear that PGP/MIME is available - now, if Mail.app would get proper heirarchical display of threading, I could actually use it. :)

    CLOSED SOURCE! Avoid this

CLOSED SOURCE! Avoid this NSA influenced version.

    Use the open source alternatives.

The NSA got caught paying money to NAI (big money) for consulting.

    It was a bribe.

Thats why zimmerman left in a huff.

NAI had no scruples and neighter does this crud. AVOID it.

    Remember "SafeWeb" ?

Hint : search for "SafeWeb" and "CIA" in google.
