updated 10:10 am EDT, Fri October 4, 2002
Creative House has updated its vector-based paint program Expression 3. It has new paint tools, including dynamic erasing using arbitrary graphic objects, real-time feflection mapped fill, user-definable fringe textures for organic blotting effects and fuzzy fills, effect lines for comics and dramatic line patterns, a new transform fill, and independent control of width and transparency variability. Other features include native support of Photoshop PSD and PNG format (including image import/export). Upgrades to the $150 application are $100 for registered users. A 30-day demo for Mac OS 8/9 and OS X is available online.

i really like this app...
i think those who have used it (or continue to use it) will agree that it is like the Painter of illustration applications. tools with incredible functionality, small-but-fervent user base, and a user interface only a mother could love (i used it in school at version 2, and it takes some, uh, "getting used to.")
i often thought that Illustrator and Freehand saw the immensely cool things expression could do with its skeletal stroke system, and reverse-engineered it into their apps. (though i have no proof of that... just a strong, strong "hunch.") but this program still does what it does best.
pity the website is still pretty amateurish. oh well.
