Actually, it doesn't even link to a classic (PPC) app. It links to a 68K app at the moment!

    Has its uses

iCab was a great, lightweight browser for old computers when it first began development (and still is). The X versions have lacked stability, and tend to feel... funky, I suppose, plus since they're guaranteed to be running on at least G3 hardware it's not as important that it's so efficient anyway (though your choices are still a bit more limited).

However! It's HTML validation feature is tremendously useful for quick spot-checks for me as a developer. Not a full replacement for the W3C's validator, but easier to use.

That's just because MacNN pulled the wrong link. Go to the iCab 2.8.2 page and you'll see that link #1 is PPC, link #2 is 68K, and the third is OS X.

    Actually ON TOPIC

Seems to run fine, but sorry iCab ... I'm hooked on tabbed browsing and there's no going back for me!

the filter manager and other iCab tools are second to none, they full my 23 HD Cinema!!!!!

Chimera has less options than my Game Boy but is my second choice.

    Die neue iCab.

    The iCab The

I don't find iCab so useful in an OSX world but if you've got old computers to support, especially 68k machines, iCab is excellent. Fast, small, and you can fit it on a floppy. Yes, I know, I hate them too but I was doing some work for a school district a couple years ago and file transfer options were pretty limited.

If it wants to be contender on OSX...well it's gonna need tabs, and start using some other services like spell check (why doesn't Chimera use this?) and hopefully conform a little better to Aqua. I see it as being more likely that some of iCab's nice features like javascript and ad filtering will make their way into browsers like Chimera and OmniWeb than the other way around though.
