DeskShade Plus 1.0 is a $7 shareware utility for Mac OS X that can discreetly hide desktop icons, animate the desktop background and protect the computer from intrusion. The latter feature works using three built-in components -- DeskLock, DeskShade and HackerLog. DeskLock password-protects the computer, DeskShade allows the user to post on-screen "away" messages for a home or office setting and the aptly-named HackerLog tracks failed attempts to bypass DeskLock.
