Ben Mackin today released Cocoa eFax 0.9.7, his $5 shareware application that sends and receives faxes using almost any fax modem (internal and external). It offers address book support, optional coversheet support, the ability to create quick notes, a fax browser interface, and support for a wide variety of modems. Limited trial versions are available for Jaguar and pre-Jaguar systems.

    Ready for prime time?

Is Cocoa eFax reliable enough to use? I've been waiting for version 1.0, but it's taking a while. Earlier reports indicated it was not ready for prime time... Anyone tried on a new dual gig DDR with Jaguar?

    good news

At this rate, there might be enough programs so that Os 10.2 can become a legitimate full time operating system (no more classic apllications) in 12 more months.

To bad about the crappy non upgrade policy $1229 is steep for an OS that does not have full functionality (needs more software)

Yeah, except I think you're being optimistic with this "12 months" stuff. Maybe in five years, if we're lucky. I mean, I've only got some 400 (best of the best) applications on my Mac OS X machine. It's just not enough. What were they thinking anyway? I can hardly do anything with it. Once I see 120 applications added/updated per day on versiontacker instead of the mere 60/day or so they have now, then we'll talk.

There's only 4,000 native Mac OS X applications available now. I mean, what were they thinking! I'm lucky if that's enough for 5 minutes usage a day. Full time? That's a pipe dream!

38,673 applications. That's what I'm waiting for. Then I'll finally be able to use Mac OS X.

S/he has a point. I have been living with crappy printer support and no scanner for a long time. I am still trying to get the scanner working under Jaguar. You bet I am pissed that I had to pay $129 just to get a printer to work.

I can't believe you idiots are so blind that you can't see taht Apple and OS 10 are not perfect. I am not asking for a free ride, just a decant product for a reasonable price.
