Not so sure...

When the newly created blank CD-R is mounted on the desktop, its type via "Show Info" shows as "Mac OS Extended" just like the wording on the initial pop-up. If these are truly hybrid CDs now, shouldn't that be reflected instead of the above? Something is whacky, as some folks have reported issues with opening these CDs under Windows, claiming that folders do not open and time/date stamps are screwy...

Toast 5.1.2 gives "error 50" when trying to mount images and 5.1.4 quits right after launch for me. I have ruled out WindowShade as the culprit. :(

getting toast working

its not just windowshade, its the entire "application enhancer" framework. remove this framework from your library (remember to check all your libraries :) along with any application enhancer plugins you might have (which can reside in a different library than the framework incidentally). i just put them all on the desktop and toast 514 starts fine now and mounts images. also, though some people claimed they couldn't save "cd copy" cd images with 5.1.4, i have had no problems doing so.

Downgrade Toast to version 5.1.2

I have this version running alongside a Dual 450 with 10.2 and APE and windowshade just fine.

Try that, and see what you get...

I have both Fruitmenu 2.5 and WindowshadeX 2.1 installed. Toast worked fine yesterday, so I know it was WindowshadeX that's causing the problem.

I uninstalled it, but left FruitMenu and the /Library/Application Enhancers intact, and Toast 5.1.4 now launches without quitting! Yay!

I like WSX, but I need Toast more. I'm happy FruitMenu is still working though. :)

Toast 5.14 didnt work for me so I reinstalled to version 5.13 without moving other files. I am running tons of unsanity shareware and freeware.

Ok, this is well and good, but the truth is, it DOESN'T WORK.
The disc is readable by a Windows machine, but no folders on the disc can be opened. Seems like a major bug to me.

And no, I don't care to buy Toast. I had this functionality under 10.1.x and expect it to work correctly under 10.2.

Toast and WindowsShade

Well, I can't get Toast 5.1.4 to work and I don't have WindowShade X installed. I do have Application Enhancer installed.

I don't want to remove Application Enhancer because I HATE BRUSHED METAL, and AE gets rid of Brushed Metal for me.

So, I downgraded to Toast 5.1.2 and all seems to work great now.

Works on Windows?

I burned one last night and put it in a PC...it read OK, but none of the folders actually opened up. I certainly hope this gets fixed soon. The rest of the OS works to well to have this be a hang up.

Toast and WindowShadeX

Actually, the error isn't WindowShadeX's fault. There was a bug in Toast 5.1.4 that was only exposed when WindowShadeX was also installed. Roxio has already fixed the bug for their next update. Unsanity will soon be posting an update to WindowShadeX that will fix the bug until then.

hybrid discs

So, I have seen lots of threads from folks who have had trouble making windows compatible CDs. I too can not open files and folders on my PC with a Mac burned disc. Anyone have thoughts about these problems
