EchoFX supports OS X for XLR8 InterView
updated 11:20 am EDT, Tue August 13, 2002
Mac developer EchoFX announced continued support for its OS X software for the XLR8's InterView USB analog video capture device, following XLR8's sudden shutdown last week. XLR8 had been shipping EchoFX's software with XLR8 InterView 2.1 since May of this year. EchoFX will now provide its latest OS X software drivers to previous XLR8 InterView 2.1 customers free of charge and will continue to sell its Mac OS X software upgrade ($25) for the InterView USB video capture device via the EchoFX web site. (It no longer requires users to send in the device for upgrade, as was required by XLR8's upgrade program.)

So they lied?
So the "firmware upgrade" that XLR8 claimed was required to use the device under OSX was a lie. Just a way to get around the promise of OSX support for older devices and generate revenue... How sleazy
