Adobe today began shipping Photoshop Elements 2.0, an update to its digital imaging software for consumers, according to a MacNN reader who received confirmation of shipment from Adobe. The new OS X-compatible application adds color correction, compositing and creative tools, and an updated design as well as previews of real-time color adjustments. (See here for more details.)

    $29 thru Amazon

If you're upgrading from Elements 1.0, you should order your copy at Amazon. In addition to the $30 rebate from Adobe for the upgrade, you'll also get an additional $40 rebate from Amazon. With free shipping, that drops the price to just $29.

    Amazon, yeah right...

How many hours will it be before Amazon take this rebate offer out from under our feet..? I know the $30 one from Adobe will still stand, but I don't trust Amazon to go through with the $40 after the Jaguar fiasco.

    Is It Good?

I am considering Elements or Photoshop for image editing and digital photo work. Nothing real high end. How is the Elements UI? Does it work with layers like PS? Anyone have some real world advice? Thanks.

Actually, both the Windows and the Macintosh versions are included. That was the case with 1.0 as well. View the System Requirements link.

    Academic Pricing

The $100 price for Elements is already excellent. The academic price for Elements is even better: $50! I guess this compensates (a tiny little bit) for the tens of thousands of dollars I am spending on tuition.
