iMac price drops in UK; MAP dropped in US

updated 10:15 am EDT, Fri August 2, 2002

Following up on our report earlier this week, c|net notes iMac price drops in the UK due to "sluggish PC demand and a slumping dollar" and also notes that Apple has dropped MAP (minimum advertised price) by $100 on the low-end CD-RW iMac. As noted, dealers have begun selling the iMac for $1,299, while Apple still lists the machine for $1,399 at the Apple Store. (Meanwhile, readers note reports that indicate the 17" iMac, introduced last month at Macworld Expo NY, is now shipping, although we have yet to receive confirmation.)
