Stata Corp. has begun shipping Stata 7, a major update to its $1,000 statistics, graphics and data-management software. The update includes new estimators and statistics commands, improvements to output, and the addition of low-level programming for development of graphs. The company also claims the application's performance has been improved by bout 10 percent. The upgrade price is $375, but it on sale until Feb. 28 for $350.
