the conduit has been wacked out for me anyways.....the calender is totally glitchy, never sync's properly....I was contemplating going with apple's new address book, iSync and iCal....and leaving entourage all together for mail when the new jaguar versions come out!

Microsoft:

lots of marketshare, a criminal monopoly and a most profitable price-gouging operation - without a clue how to make a quality product.

It is our responsibility as communists to ensure that this Great American Company can continue to rest on its laurels and squash competitors through monopoly leverage as we move to its (sub)standardized one size fits all solutions.

Absolutely--I am going to do the same thing with respect to iCal and Address Book. Apple has integrated everything so seamlessly into Jaugar that all they need now is a PDA, though i know this is very unlikely to happen...

That is funny...not entirely accurate but pretty damn close.
Good thing in my opinion though...although it may hurt Apple not to have a million games available for the platform...it helps me...I actually get work done. I'm a sucker for games and if there were more, I'd be in some sort of a gaming shame spiral by now.

Messed up a few number...

The sync software is big time buggy, it messed up a few of my telephone numbers and totally earased others. The first time I tried to run it......lock up. It should be interseting to see apples stuff work together.

Worked for me...

It took a long time, but the the conduit seemed to work pretty well for me. A few glitches, but nothing too bad. It look Palm a long time to get their software to synch properly.
No software is perfect, but I suppose it is too much to ask for people to moderate the immature whining and knee-jerk MS bashing.

Man if mentioning that non-beta software erased or changed your data is whining then you are one tolerant person...or maybe not since you are "whining" about people agreeing that the software doesn't work right.

Quesync has had software working for a quite a while so for a massive corporation like microsoft to finally put out a conduit months later and it doesn't work properly is in no way immature whining...it's freakin' weak!!

Moderate Whining

Well Whining is good and all, I mean this is a forum! Ha, as far as the conduit goes it didn't work AT ALL for me. I would have loved to get it to work. Being in sync with everything would be nice for a change.... Hmm how about syncing email (Neither iSync, MS, or Dataviz offer a Mac solution)? What? PC's have had it for how long? WTF? Seriously, this feature would be SOOOO nice. Just hotsync the palm, grab your email and respond on the run. After all it is a Personal Data Assitant... Hello Dataviz are you LISTENING?? Email AND Powerpoint would be nice, I mean we have to check our email and do presentations too, and we pay THE SAME PRICE as the FULL PC package DATAVIZ!! WTF!! Don't worry the MacBU will get their stuff together. After all it did take Palm a while to get 4.0 and X compatibility so MS didn't have much of anything to work with...

Well I am supprised that they didn't just bring out a conduite for all the pocket windoes devices. If you want to use an iPaq you must buy a PC hmm.

I don't know what the issue is but the existing MS conduite for Palm works fine for me.

Before we start bashing MSoft, let us recall the release of iTunes two which blanked out some user's hard drives, or perhaps iPhoto 1.1 that was taken off minutes after being released. I think that when it comes to PDAs the Windows CE devices are superior the Palm OS ones. I suppose this is more of a personal choice rather than actual functionality, but what I cannot understand is why Microsoft has failed to release a synch app for Entourage. Just like Apple was visionary in producing Windows compatible iPods, Msoft should have thought "Hey some people think that the iPaq is the iPod of PDA's so lets do something to increase the marketshare of our OS by allowing people to synch between our two products. Of course we should note that the reason for the absence of a WindowsMac transferable outlook (.pst) file is the fact that many people would not bother doing the switch if it meant loosing all their email and address books. Anyhow, I am just happy that Msoft will provide me with a free app that will allow me to at least sych my calendar, contacts, and notes between my iMac and my Jornada.

Sorry I missed the "Digital" in PDA...

I mean, "Personal Data Assistant" and "Personal Digital Assistant" are two totally diffferent things aren't they :-P

The term "digital" is so over used, I mean of course a PDA is digital it has a CPU AND TRANSISTORS WHOA!

Anyways, yes MS doesn't HAVE to offer a Palm Conduit, but the point is that they DID say they WOULD and by making a conduit that screws up my info pisses me off. Had I d/l a defunct iTunes I too would have been pist off as well. Give the MacBU some credit, but then again don't let them off to easy ;-)

What are they smoking in Redmond? It took the Mactopia team months to get this conduit out (they claimed they were delaying because Palm Desktop 4.0 was in beta) and now it doesn't even work? I tried it on my Handspring Visor Edge and the result was absolute chaos...my Date Book had events from three years ago listed as happening now!

Add me to the list of the iSync/iCal/Mail converts...but only if Mail is SIGNIFICANTLY more stable and less buggy than it currently is.

Better read the fine print, "MacNN.com Reader"; the Entourage coduit is not supported with any device other than a Palm branded handheld. I guess Handspring hasn't yet gotten around to supporting OS X. Not that I can blame them. It seems to me the first non-beta quality version will be Jaguar.

Bashing MS is always

in season. Comparing the resources of Apple, Microsoft and the relative quality of service from each demonstrates that in the quality department Apple far outperforms Microsoft. Apple provides better quality of service than MS with 20% of the employees and none of the monopoly leverage Microsoft is convicted of using illegally.

Almost 50,000 employees, $billion and $billions in the bank and monopoly-marketshare software that M$ claims is successful because of quality... it doesn't add up.
