In THAT one, Will doesn't even say he switched to a Mac... just that he likes computers. It may have been funny, but it wasn't exactly a great ad for Apple.

I was on the fence about this latest ad campaign until now. A couple of the adults in the original ads offered a reasonable endorsement of the Apple product, but THESE TWO???

What kid or adult wants to buy a computer endorsed by these two - I hate to say it - losers? Has Apple's ad agency lost its marbles?

You want viewers to ADMIRE the people in the ad and ASPIRE to be like them by buying the product. I am personally embarrassed of these two losers and what they imply / represent about Apple customers.

Will Farell Ad

I want to see that one too, but that's only b/c I hear it's funny, not that it's necessarily a good ad. But I can't judge until I see it. I hope Apple posts it nonetheless. As for the student ads, I hope Apple marketing have enough sense to give only the good ads air time.

What about the third ad?

There was a third commercial after Hamilton which feature a guy eating something and then said that he was a p*** star. That one was funny! I hope Apple posts that one.

You people thinking that these two teenagers are "stoned" obviously haven't spoken to a real teenager in the last 10 years. News flash - this is what ACTUAL teenagers talk and look like, it's not drugs, it's just mannerisms. No kidding! I think that Apple using them is a better and more natural choice than some pretentious Ivy-league bound kid whose parents live in the Hamptons, who appears "smart" to adults but who really isn't. Not that I've got anything against Hampton teenagers or anything... ;-)

All this talk of stoned kids reminds me of the 50s, when adults were REALLY, truly scared of teenagers and their "strange" ways. Come to think of it, teenagers have scared adults in every era of American history, which usually causes adults to respond by coming up with inane labels to describe and dismiss their behavior (and their crazy music) as a group.

To h*** with that. I say - more power to 'em! This old guy in particular says rock on, Ellen and Hamilton, and don't pay any attention to these old geezers on here! You are real and young, and that's something better that us old farts have...

I really like these two ads - Ellen and Hamilton. They're two typical youngsters being themselves. Ellen's endearing and funny, Hamilton looks a little dorky but his s*** voice and cute smile make me melt. They're "real people", more real than the boring old farts.

That "guy" was Will Ferrel. He's a famous comedian, on a little show called "Saturday Night Live." Anyway, as discussed earlier in this thread, he discusses computers and his frappucino... not really an endorsment for Apple or switching from PC's at all. I have a feeling it was just done as a gag.

Not sure what you're talking about. I'm 23 and met teens (through volunteer projects and campus tours stuff) in SF, LA and NY (within the last couple of years) of and most teens do NOT talk like the Ellen girl. I think most people are referring to her attitude, not her choice of words. She didn't seem like she got enough sleep the night before. That other guy, with the iPod that makes him feel powerful, is normal. The Tess was the best out of the three.

Those kids are awesome... not cookie cutter "teenagers" you see on mtv or lame "Dawson Creek" type shows. They almost stylisitcally loop back to the old Think Different ads. Recognizing the value and creativity in the outsider or the people who are a little different.
