WiebeTech offers faster MicroGB drives

WiebeTech today announced two new configurations of MicroGB, which incorporate IBM's high-speed Travelstar 5400 RPM mechanisms with an 8MB buffer, offering burst transfer rates of 35MB/sec. The pocket drive, which has FireWire/USB1/USB2 interfaces, features a distrinctive, rugged, solid aluminum case. The 20GB model, now available, is $280, while the 40GB version is due next week for $440. WiebeTech has also announced a $40 reduction in pricing on the user upgradeable version of MicroGB ("0GB" model) and new 20GB, 40GB, and 100GB versions of its DesktopGB, a larger desktop drive. It also reduced pricing by $10-$20 on most DesktopGB models.
