Emagic Logic cross-grade for Windows users

updated 04:25 pm EDT, Fri July 5, 2002

Emagic has announced a "crossgrade" migration plan for users of Logic 5 for Microsoft Windows. The plan would allow Windows users to switch to the Mac version of Logic 5.2 -- for free. The offers will be available starting August 1, 2002 -- for every registered Logic 5 Windows user -- and will run until the end of the year. Emagic became an wholly-owned Apple subsidiary following a recent acquisition, but the plans for the integration of the Logic product line have yet to be announced.

    NO thanks

There are PLENTY of other, BETTER, programs out there for the PC. We have plenty to choose from.

    BETTER programs out ther

Not to mention a wide variety of system repair utilities and
an endless stream of bug fixes and secirity updates.

Not to mention making it possible for Bill Gates to be the
richest guy on earth by sending those hefty contributions to
    Redmond every year.

You Windows guys have it made.

    How Generous

Apple is offering a migration plan for the tiny minority of people who are still dumb enough to use Windows for musical applications.

    Too generous

That's a pretty generous policy, and even if only a few take advantage of it every convert counts.
I would have given them a coupon for 10% off the Mac version myself. If they're stupid enough to be using a PC for music, they deserve their miserable fate.

    your the dumb one

If Apple is so great, why is it still losing marketshare? Down to 2.4% from what I read yesterday! Ha!

    If Windows users are so

smart, why is it that Apple's 2.4% marketshare yields 65% of emagic's revenue and almost 50% of Adobe's?

Maybe because all most Windows users know how to do on a computer is write memos in word and add columns of numbers in excel?

    Cool

Way to go Apple! This is what Apple should be doing with EVERY software developer they buy out. Give the window's users the choice to have a FREE version of the Mac software. This amounts to HUGE savings for high end apps like Logic and Shake.

Apple is a hardware company, so essentially they could give away all their software for free, it would be excellent bait for all the Windows droids out there.

Of course, there are always cracked versions of these expensive apps, but we know that Windows users are more ethical than Mac users, so they would never "steal" software on their own.

Try Macs making up 27% of Adobe's revenues and falling...
