Netopia intros Timbuktu Pro for Education
updated 04:35 pm EDT, Tue June 18, 2002
Netopia today announced the technology preview of Timbuktu Ed at NECC. As noted here earlier, the new version is specially designed for the classroom, offering remote control functionality to allow teachers and students to share screens, display work, transfer project files, and communicate instantly. Teachers can allow an entire class, or a selected few, to observe the teacher's or another student's computer and also track the work of multiple students simultaneously, by observing any number of student desktops. Timbuktu Ed also offers instant messaging and direct file transfer options. The final version is due later this summer.

It looks like this is Timbuktu's answer to Apple Remote Desktop. Timbuktu is a great product. I haven't checked the latest versions but I've always been impressed with earlier versions.
