Tech: MS WiFi security, Amazon shipping

updated 11:25 am EDT, Tue June 18, 2002

Morning tech news: Microsoft has made a commitment to enhanced Wi-Fi security called 802.1x, a standard set of instructions that adds new levels of security to standard WEP protocols. Amazon has begun waiving shipping charges for the next few months on certain orders of $49 or more and has also begun selling electronics equipment from Sony; and the popular file-swapping service Audiogalaxy has agreed to filter copyrighted works as part of a legal settlement with the recording industry, which also requires it pay the music publishers and recording industry an undetermined amount of money based on Audiogalaxy's assets.

    Security?!?!?

Microsoft can't even plug holes in its own OS and other programs and they expect us to believe they will provide security for wireless networks? LOL!
Yeah right. They better make it open source so those who know can plug the holes the make while putting out their security swiss cheese.

    MegaShaft WinBlows 802.1x

Watch this...soon we won't be able to connect to 802.1x networks because we Mac users don't have some crappy crumb-cake coded extension from MegaShaft in our system folder because their board of directors feel that there isn't enough Mac users to spend the time to write one.....Where is the 802.1 compliancy world order to confront the issue? My guess is that they are joining the Rivera Pic Nic Sun Splash 2002 with the rest of the internet slouches, including the clan from W3, and some friends from the 10th floor suites at Enron.....all huddled together for a big ball rub on the beach.....

Audiogalaxy just sold its soul to the devil, and will never be able to keep up its end of the bargain. You'd think they would have learned after Napster tried the same thing. Oh well, another one bites the dust.
