Two games go Gold, retailers receive shipment

updated 05:20 pm EDT, Thu June 13, 2002

Several Mac games have gone 'gold' today, including Max Payne and Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Also, retailers have received shipments of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, The Sims: Hot Date, and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds.

Max Payne is a first-person shooter from Macsoft that features "photo-digitized textures, bullet-time game play (ala Matrix bullet dodging), self-adjusting difficulty levels, and painstaking attention to details." It will be available on July 16 for $35.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is expected to be available on July 3. The real-time strategy game may be played either single player or multiplayer over Battle.net. The price is exepcted to be between $55 and $60.

A MacNN reader notes that the book published by Aspyr for Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds mentions Jedi Knight II as a future game, and also mentions the expansion pack for Galactic Battlegrounds -- Clone Wars -- with the Aspyr logo directly beneath it.

    Diablo 3?

Not sure if there will be one, certainly wont be for at least another 3 years if they do make a D3. We have World of Warcraft coming (prob at soonest) next summer, and their other, yet to be announced game, which is probably Star Craft the year after or the year after that.
This is Blizzard remember? Great games, but release schedules like a dessert :) But at least the quality of the games are some of the best in the world.

    D3???

Diablo 3 will be quite a while, if ever. Next is WoW, then, I hope, Starcraft 2. Blizzard does about one game a year. Also, I read an interview (Sorry, I forgot where) from E3 with a Blizzard rep., and he said that they were working on some new games that aren't from the 3 existing worlds, these games would be all-new. Sounds interesting...
