Newsweek takes a look at iMovie

updated 04:40 pm EST, Mon December 18, 2000

Newsweek has posted a positive review of iMovie. "Then I saw a TV commercial for Apple's iMac, playing up the candy-colored bubble's ability to edit digital video. I realized that there's technology out there claiming to work just like the professional video-editing suites I've used a bit in previous jobs."

    Media Player only?

I read the article about Adam Rogers and his
experiences with the iMac DV Special Edition
and iMovie, then went to play the provided samples.
Surprise, they require MS's Media Player,
    not Quicktime.
(Also, strange title, somehow the first clip is identified as
    "RFK funeral train")

I couldn't see the clips - as here at work we only use wintel boxes and even they dont seem to like windows media player. (Although I recently persuaded I.S. to install Quicktime and life if much better...) But as someone who works in mainstream TV news as is asked about ten times each week about systems, edit software, cameras etc etc etc... I am tempted to print it out and just hand it to eveyone who asks. Nice piece.
