Tech: Possible PayPal fraud
updated 05:30 pm EDT, Tue June 4, 2002
A MacNN reader has noted a possibly huge email scam that tricks readers into giving their PayPal username and passwords to a company that is not PayPal. "I do not know the degree to which this email has been blasted on the public, but given what PayPal does (and the unfamiliarity of the web using public -- I do not even know the best way to report this other than to PayPal itself [which provides no direct contact info] and the FBI]), the potential fraud here could be substantial." [MacNN warns users that the page is fake, and no personal information should be used on it.]

Paypal repeatedly says that they will never ask for your password.
Paypal also DOES have contact numbers. You have to be a Paypal member to use them...perhaps a premium member (not sure). I have called with questions in the past and spoke with some very friendly people.
NEVER give your account info to ANYBODY...for any bank...anywhere.
