Microsoft does not plan to initially offer a Corona player for the Mac when the next-generation digital media client and server software debuts later this year, according to c|net: "We'll focus on other platforms like the Mac primarily to ensure Windows Media content playback..There will not be a separate Corona player in that time frame."

Ho-hum. Why don't they tell that to someone who plans to initially care?

    Why would I want one?

WHY in the world would I want a SEPERATE player? I have Quicktime & Windows Media Player already, why would I want a seperate player if one of these would do the job???

    Two comments

    1) Why would anyone care? The mac has MPEG 4 playing and broadcasting capabilities NOW.

    2) Why is Microsoft naming it's new media player after a brand of beer?

Doesn't anybody find the humor in the timing of this announcement?? On the same day as Apple posts the QT6 preview...

    1) Why would anyone care? The mac has MPEG 4 playing and broadcasting capabilities NOW.

Because 95% of the people out there have an OS which monopolizes everything they use/do. And if that 95% has access to a player with new features that blow a QT "preview" out of the water, we lose, yet again. Or, maybe it's not better, but the general public is told it's better, so that 95% downloads and installs it... damaging QT's marketshare.

Read the press release and quit being ignorant:
