Apple UK's strategy to increase its market share by focusing on retail sales is showing signs of success, according to a MacUser UK report, which cites market research company IDC numbers that show a "massive 21.2 per cent year-on-year growth in the company's unit sales. This means Apple's share of the UK PC market in the first quarter of 2002 jumped to 3.2 per cent, compared with 2.5 per cent last year."
