Several MacNN readers have noted that Apple iTools services is now limiting bandwidth of users' accounts: "I've noticed that my iDisk is giving me a 'broadband has exceeded on this account' error. This is new, I had it the first time yesterday. I've looked whole over the site of Apple to find how much the limitation is per day, but there is nothing mentioned of this...."

    No

It isn't that Apple isn't getting cheap, it's that the number of iDisk users is growing.

What if Apple doubled their marketshare next year...would you expect the same amount of space/bandwidth on your iDisk? Do you have any idea how much that would cost Apple?

What other computer maker even offers anything as cool as iTools? Nobody. So shut your bunghole and start talking out of the hole with a brain nearby.

    What's Going on?

Does this apply to people who buy iDisk space? What is the limiting factor (daily, weekly)? I use my iDisk as a universally accessible HD, will this cause problems? Ugh, what's going on?

    No excuses

Apple tauted the service to users who have now come to depend on it as their primary email services, as well as using it as an integral part of the "digital hub" that Apple creating.
To limit users from doing exactly what Apple wanted them to do is ridiculous. Now that they have these shiny new servers, why not put some to use and keep the Mac.com community as happy as they have been.
    Please, not another Hotmail fiasco.

What's wrong with Hotmail? I like the idea of punishing people who don't check their mail every half-hour.

    Multiple Accounts

Does anyone know if you can sign up for more than one iTools account? How about if you use multiple users and the people in your family each try to sign up for their own account; will this work?
If it turns out that people are abusing the generosity, then Apple should find a way to stop people from signing up for more than one account.

    Multiple Accounts

I have 3 accounts, one for each business I work at and one for personal. Don't see anything wrong with that. We have 30 macs total. I think 3 accounts is justified.
