Patrick O'Kelly has posted instructions on how to create Cube Wrappers, pieces of paper inserted in the space between the clear outer plastic housing and the metal inner housing of the G4 Cube. "Size your creation in your favorite graphics editor to at least 7.25 inches in height and anywhere from 7 inches to 21 inches in width."

    Ventilation problems?

I'd think this would cause major problems with the cube's cooling system. Wouldn't it interfere with the little grooves in the plastic designed to vent heat from the cube?

    Out side of the cube

I belive this only wraps around the outside of the cube. Ventelation is only on the top, right? None the less, this is a really cool idea. It's a level of customization that I'm sure Apple didn't expect.

    Sounds like a bad idea

I'm no expert on the Cube, but it sounds like a really bad idea. I suspect it would have a major effect on the ventillation, since everything was so carefully designed for the standard case with no foreign materials added.

    Ventilation. No problem!

The cube was designed to pass heat throught the center, from the bottom to the top. There is NO VENTING in the sides. Adding a single piece of paper between the plastic enclosure and the cube itself does not interfere with the venting at all.

And wow. It's a great inexpensive way to COLORIZE/CUSTOMIZE your Cube! Rah!

    Heh...

Quite smart, I must say. One of those things where you have to ask, "now why didn't I think of this?" ;-)

This is definately a job which looks best (or is only possible, really) on a G4 Cube. Neat!

    A very cool idea

Apple should package 5-6 wrappers with each cube - maybe that match the desktop backgrounds, aqua themes, fruit flavors, etc.
    the next level of customization!

    apple wake up!!!!

Apple, this is the next great idea! remember the book ends, the customizable powerbook covers, huge hit!!!

Now the iMacs and iBooks, huge hit!!!!

People like thier own custom colors. Why not invent a computer case in which you can slip paper into slots to change the look of the computer case/screen.

This would get huge publicity in tv shows, trade shows, etc. And just think of all the people that would love to make some for themselfs, personally. Home, work, etc.

Dude, this could be the next computer cult. People could trade thier designs online and we would owe it all to apple computer! yeah!
