    You're an idiot... I care.

Jonathan Ive and the rest of Apple's Industrial Design team deserve all the kudos in the world. All three of the nominated products are just beautiful. iBook is my personal fave.

    But

Primo designs are nice, but they don't count for much when Wintels are at 2.5 GHz and Apple's $3000 Powermac is only at 1 GHz. Dual processors help, but only in some apps, and they are never the equivalent of their sum (2 GHz).

I'd rather Apple had butt-ugly boxes and were shipping 2 GHz Powermacs and 1.8 GHz iMacs...performance will help to boost their market share more than any pretty boxes.

Don't get me wrong, I love Apple's designs, but they are falling dangerously far behind in the GHz gap.
