QPS has released the new set of drivers for the Que! USB CD-RW drive, according to MacNN reader Gabriel Botnick: " The installer says the drivers work with OS X up to 10.1.3, but it in fact works with 10.1.4 as well."

    Do a double-take

I have one of the original Que! drives - either a 4x2x4 or 2x2x4, can't remember which. Anyway, I've been eagerly awaiting this driver, and was very dissapointed the last time it was released. As soon as I saw this, I downloaded the new version, installed it, and rebooted when prompted. NOTHING happened, OS X still didn't recognize it.

Anyway, I was getting ready to send to their Tech Support, again, so I unplugged the drive to get the info. When I plugged it back it, I could tell that communication was going on with my G3. I thought to myself, "Hmmm, let's try it again." Lo and behold, the OS and iTunes both recognize the drive!! iTunes calls it a MITSUMI CR-4802TE.

Oh, and one more thing I just found out, by getting that designation. Apparently, when the OS/computer "calms down" (I don't sleep the OS, but the harddrives, and I assume other bus-related stuff does) the computer loses the CDRW recognition. I just unplugged the USB, plugged it back in, and the drive is seen and ready to go. This is a minor inconvenience, to be able to use my burner in OS X. At last!!!!

    Still nothing

I remain very disappointed. Communication starts, but then the yellow light says on. iTunes can't recognize, and neither can Toast. Maybe it's because I'm on 10.1.4, I dunno. I'm putting my green doorstop back on the floor where it was.
