The Omni Group is expected to unveil a major product upgrade this week as the company reorganizes its online store and product offerings. The Omni Group is a leading developer of Mac OS X-native applications written in the Objective-C development language. The company's offerings include OmniWeb, OmniGraffle, OmniOutliner and OmniDiskSweeper -- an array of products widely adopted by Mac OS X power users.

    Store Reorganization

While it may in fact be time for the release of OW 4.1, it appears that the store reorganization is solely to facilitate the sale of boxed products (as opposed to downloaded).

    Maybe I'm being too pessimistic...

    Interesting

Interesting... They said major product upgrade so it must mean that they will be upgrading one of their product, not a new product. Probably something from NeXT?

    The "official" word

The primary store changes were to support upgrade sales. OmniOutliner 2 and OmniObjectMeter 2 (developer tool) are imminent. Support for boxed product sales is coming, but is not there yet.

    Could it be

That when you open OmniWeb it actually remembers the window position? Now that would be a major upgrade

    Say what?

Erm, OmniWeb does remember the window position. Go to the Browser (I think) menu and pick Save Window Size.

Amazing what technology does for us these days, ain't it?

    FYI

If you haven't been keeping up with the sneakypeeks since 4.1b4, they're still being updated. sp70 is now available, but b4 doesn't recognize any newer versions, so you'll have to download it manually from OmniGroup's site.

    Re: "official" word

What, you mean MacNN *didn't* try contacting Omni Group to get the official word first?

Haha, how typical. And how simply laughable for a "news" site... they should chane their name to Macintosh We-Print-Whatever-Readers-Send-Us Network."

Considering OmniGroup regularly participate in MacNN's own forums, you'd think they would be contactable wouldn't you?

    re: free

So, just because MacNN is free:

    1. readers can't have a negative opinion on site content?
    2. readers can't expect a little bit more in the way of quality?
    3. rather than cite weak areas in hopes that improvements might be made, those unhappy with content/quality should simply go elsewhere?

    Interesting theory......if you're mentally challenged.
