Apple surpases Gateway in unit shipments

A MacNN reader writes: "Not sure if anyone noticed, but Apple's unit shipments and sales in the most recent quarter beat Gateway. Gateway sold 645,000 units during the quarter while Apple sold 813,000 units. It should also be noted that Apple made money while Gateway did not. I'm not sure how often this happens, but it would seem that Apple has surpassed what the AP calls "the fourth largest computer maker" at least in the short term. This may bode well as a sales tool for Apple's education sales force where Gateway has aggressively pursued 'converting' Mac-based sites."
