ZDNet's David Coursey quickly extended his single-month Mac test drive period -- in which he attempts to realize the full potential of the Mac and its viability as a workplace platform -- to three months and seven columns. Over that time, Coursey admits that he has become accustomed to the Mac platform and praises it for its advantages over Microsoft Windows. "I like this little iMac and don't want to give it up."

    Huh.

This continues to amuses me since Coursey was whining about the way Apple horribly wronged him by giving Time the scoop on the G4 iMac prior to it's 'official' rollout at Macworld. I also seem to recall him berating the design of the new iMac.

    No web building prog?

    there's no easy-to-use low-end Web-building program for the Mac.

Someone should tell him about Mozilla.

Compared with what's out there for Wintel users, that would make the Mac look bad. We do very well in the high-end Web development tools like DreamWeaver/GoLive, and even BBEdit rocks, but for a consumer-level Web page creator, I'm afraid the Mac doesn't have much going for it.

I sure would like a Carbon version of Visual Page, PageMill, or Claris Home Page

He makes a great point about RealPlayer -- where the f*** is the Mac OS X version of RealPlayer?? I wish I could strangle every last employee of Real, the worst company on earth next to STF Technologies.

What about Freeway and Pagespinner? I know Freeway is a little expensive, but it's really easy and fun to use.

At consumer level Word and Powerpoint can be saved as HTML and actually works quite well for small sites.

    RealPlayer

More like RealFlayer... it trashes audio and video, simply an awful app.

"If it ain't available through QT or iTunes, I don't want or need it!"

    Your opinion may vary, obviously.

    RealPlayer

Having no RealPlayer is indeed a pain in the a** right now. It's still fairly popular with webmasters who haven't latched on to QuickTime yet. In a few years, Real won't exist and it won't matter. They haven't even issued a statement regarding OS X have they? Losers.
