Logitech Control Center 1.0b2 introduces software support for Logitech control devices in OS X: "This software will succeed the current MouseWare M software for Mac OS 8.6-9.x and eventually support all USB mice and keyboards. A final, full release is expect around June, 2002. The Logitech Control Center will provide the same level of support that MouseWare M3.x-4.x was providing on Mac OS 9, but also adds basic support for USB keyboards. At the time of this beta release, USB keyboards cannot be configured in the Logitech Control Center."

    Warning! This is Junk!

This software fails to load. When it does load, it adds no funtionality to OSX and if you open your console after installing it, it is putting quotes from "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" there. As soon as I found this, I took the software off.

    Shame on you Logitech!

    Maybe... but it works

It does work with my Logitech Navigator keyboard, enabling the power key to logout/shutdown, volume, mute, and media (ejects cd) buttons. Which Logitech device are you trying it with?

    Functionality

i don't know why there are so many people slamming Logitech for this update. It is beta software, it does provide added functionality, and there are easily configured ways around any of the problems that Logitech introduced. I am definitely no X guru and i managed to figure out, meaning anyone can.

If you want to get rid of the HG Marvin stuff: navigate to Library/Application Support/Logitech/LCC Daemon
From there open it up and remove the Marvin folder. Log out, then log in, no more Marvin. Thank Macfixit forums for that.

Since adding the new drivers i've been able to add a command-h to my scroll wheel button, which was worth the download for me.

There is no reason to become enraged over this whatsoever.

    Cordless Freedom on Mac?

I have been waiting for Logitech to officially support their (wireless) Cordless Freedom keyboard and mouse on the Mac. Has anybody tried this? Does it work? Will a working version of "Logitech Control Center" (whatever that is) do the trick, or is there still some missing driver software standing in the way of wouldbe Mac users?

    Preference Pane

I am also no OS X guru, but when I looked for LCC in System Preferences it was not there. When I went to 'Show Info' in /Library/PreferencePanes/Logit... it would seem that it is installed as a 'package' Kind, rather than 'Mac OS X Preference Pane' Kind.
