Microsoft has released a new version of their popular web browser, Internet Explorer v5.1.4. The update resolves all potential security vulnerabilities including a memory problem that could compromise the security of the computer. The update is available via Software Update.

    Does not appear on SW upd

    Not that I really use IE much at all, but it does not appear on my update panel. My system's up to dae (OSX 10.1.3 & IE 5.1.3)

    Does it work for others?

    check it's location...

    ...I had it in a subfolder, but I had to move it all the way out to Applications before Software Update could see it.

    location AND name...

    Yep, it has to be in the right place (OS drive -> Applications), AND it has to have the correct name (Internet Explorer). I had renamed mine, and Software Update didn't recognize it until it was named properly.

    has it broken anyone else' Flash 6? no swf's will play now, just get a white space.. greeeaaat...

    Yeah I think it's a bug. The update downgraded my flash plug-in to version 5 after the update. Remove the flash 5 plug-in and reinstall the flash 6 plug-in.

    No chance apple will allow MS to install IE 6: one of the main features of IE 6 on windows is that it removes all java support from Windows... :-)
