    Bluetooth Phones

I went to the mall over the weekend (Tyson's Corner, same place with the Apple Store) and went around to all the different phone kiosks for Nextel, AT&T Wireless, VoiceStream, Cingular, etc. etc. None of them were selling phones with bluetooth.

What would be the best way to actually get a bluetooth phone to use with a Palm or a PowerBook?

    Re: Bluetooth Phones

Ericsson offers a bluetooth adapter for some of its phones, like the T28 world phone.

    BLUETOOTH PHONES - Here.

    http://www.westcoin.com

I just ordered one from them last Friday, I should be getting it any day now. Essentially, you would want to look at getting an "unlocked" phone. A lot of providers "lock" their phones, so that you can only use phones that they provide with their network, and nobody elses.

So, if you get an unlocked phone, you can use them on pretty much any providers GSM network - Voicestream, Cingular, etc...

Also, buying unsubsidized phones [unlocked phones] is usually a lot more expensive than buying one when you activate a service plan - so be warned.

I ordered an Ericsson T39 at this place, they also have the T68s, etc...

Also, for what its worth, I emailed and talked with a Voicestream engineer about Ericsson/bluetooth phones - and he said that Voicestream is NOT going to be carrying the T39 - but will be carrying the T68 in the future. I think they are doing testing with it right now... But honestly, for people that already have service with Voicestream - to go and buy a new T68 without an activation is a lot of cash - so we'll see how that goes...

    Software?

Okay, so now I can connect my Bluetooth phone to my Mac... What software do I use to send/receive the data between my phone and my computer? What about phone-model compatability? I don't really understand how the data actually gets imported on to the computer. It's one thing if the two devices can talk to each other, it's another if they actually understand eachother. Any input?

    Epson support

Epson has a bluetooth adapter for some of it's phones. As of now they only have PC drivers, but in response to an email I sent. They said they are working on Mac bluetooth drivers for it.
