Formac announced today the introduction of its devideon superdrive, a new FireWire DVD-R/RW & CD-RW combination drive that includes Formac's proprietary DVD authoring software. The software's enhanced MPEG encoder, supports NTSC and PAL video formats, converts iMovies and QuickTime files into DVD format and can tune the quality of video and audio output, by defining video bit rates between 1.0 and 9.8 MBit and audio frequencies between 32KHz and 48KHz. It offers the ability to record more than 6 hours of video on a single DVD media. The $550 drive is due later this month and uses a Pioneer-based mechansim with 2x/1x/6x DVD-RW write/rewrite/read speeds and 8x/4x/24x CD-RW speeds.

    1st POST, BOOH YEAH!!!

I so love being the first post, that I have to fight it it every time just so I can have "1st POST, BOOH YEAH!!!" I do not realize that this pisses off almost every other user on the MacNN forums. My catch phrase is childish and unoriginal, but I don't care. I'll keep doing it anyway. Really, I have no life, and I've setup a script to check MacNN for updates just so I can that coveted first post! BOOH YEAH!

    -the 'BOOH YEAH' guy.

    Mods?

Obviously the above is not the work of the tru 'BOOH YEAH' guy, who not really having anything to comment on in this thread did not post a 'BOOH YEAH' since for him (me, but the 3rd person is applicable for one of my stature) the phrase is not to be taken lightly. If I have a comment to make then I'll give ya all a healthy 'BOOH YEAH' be that first post or third, but this guy does not 'BOOH YEAH' in vain. So, if you must impersonate me, please post something constructive about the topic.

    thank-you kindly,

    -the 'BOOH YEAH' guy.

    seems to me...

that while the BOOH YEAH guy can be as annoying as h*** he always posts something about the topic and that the rest of the BOOH YEAHing going on around here is from annoyed third parties who are being exponentially MORE annoying than the BOOH YEAH guy is.

    So which is worse?

Imitating the "Booh Yeah" Guy or being the "Booh Yeah" Guy?

    Serious

Seriously, he never makes junk posts. They's always on topic.
Some people are just so lame that they're LOOKING for someone to trash.
I think its kind of funny and has a light humour to it. Especially since he ACTUALLY COMMENTS ON THE STORY AT HAND.

Speaking of which, how does DVD Studio Pro stack up to this "6 hours" of DVD video on a single disc (I know the quality wouldn't be amazing, but I'm still curious)

    Same as Apple's SD?

Is this the same mechanism as Apple's superdrive? Should the software work with a built-in if they make it available separately?
