Jason Greene notes that Apple is hoping to triple the number of developers using OS X to develop software in the Asian region within the next five years and to increase its current membership of by 50% by the end of the year, according to The Star Online. The article notes that Apple recently held a two-day conference in Kuala Lumpur to spread the word on Apple’s Developer Connection Programme where 50 people signed up and that it is attempting to lure student developers by offering a three-month introductory offer where the membership fee for the first year would be waived and free admission to Apple's up-coming five-day developers conference in San Jose in May.

BOOH YEAH! KA LA KA! haha
FIRST POST AGAIN. I RULE.
On a lighter note, it would be good for Apple to go after Asia more agressively (and just Japan, which the rest of Asia despises anyway). Asia hasn't undergone the same level of computer penetration and it could be another shot for Apple to gain a bigger piece of an emerging market. They're going to need significantly cheaper models, though.
