    DJ utility & AppleTalk?

Does the DeskJet Printer Utility in this distribution support AppleTalk? The only one I see in my Utilities folder only lists USB when I run it.

    Where is the driver?

It doesn't currently show up as a download option when I select several of the listed deskjet models from the HP software selector web page.

    Come on HP

Geez, is it too much to ask to get Appletalk drivers for an 800 series printer? I paid several hundred dollars more for a network-capable inkjet printer and its been a fricking ripoff thus far. I'm pissed. HP should be ashamed.

    Deskjet 1120c

I paid $500 for this printer and cannot use it in OS X. I have a Parallel-to-USB adapter and even a print server but it just doesn't work because HP won't make a generic driver. Pisses me off.

VersionTracker has a working download link :

Reviews seem mixed on what what works with this update - milage will vary depending on your set up.

Version Tracker is one of the best sites for downloads and their links always work . They also don't have annoying pop up windows

    Appletalk Works!

Folks, yes this driver does work to print over an appletalk network. I have a deskjet 970 with a jetdirect print server 300, and it works great. Finally, it took one full year for HP to do this. Maybe you are trying to use USB sharing which does not work under OS X, but that's apple's fault folks, as its an OS issue, not a printer one.

    OS X finally viable!

Finally, all of my hardware works with OS X! Ambrosia just needs to carbonize Swoop and I'll never have to touch Classic again!

    1120C

You CAN use your HP1120c printer via OSX. I have since I've transistioned over to the new os. The only way you can do it though is to install the SyleScript (i have ver 4) software on a OS9 system and set it to allow remote connections. Then select "appletalk" from within OSX's Print Center application and the 1120c will show up. Select the right ppd file and your off and running. It actually prints a tad faster even (probably because its now ripping the file on another computer) Though its still horibbly slow. I'm still pissed at HP as well. It says MAC COMPATABLE right on the box. (suuure with a $100 cable and software upgrade via a 3rd party) There is no way they will release drivers now as it (as well as stylescript) have been unsupported now for some time.

    1.3 hosed my printer!

Well, I installed the 1.3 driver, but when I tried to install the printer in the Print Center, it gave me an "Unexpected error -108" (as opposed to the 'expected error' oops, that's Windoze ;-) Now I can't print at all. tried uninstalling it, but the installer hung. Manually dragged the HP folder out, installed the 1.2 driver. Same thing. HELP!
