Apple's iMac supply problems over the next few weeks will make or break the company's second quarter financials, according to Prudential Securities analyst Kimberly Alexy, flagging potential problems.

I somehow doubt that even if Apple did stock it's own shelves first is going to have a major effect on other suppliers. There are only 28 Apple stores nationwide. I think the other suppliers are trying to make more out of this than there needs to be... These suppliers should have seen the reception of the new iMac as a sign to get their supply orders in earlier. The Apple Store has to go through the same ordering channels that everyone else does. I've seen plenty of times where MacMall has had new shipments before the Apple Store has. I fear that the stock analysts are going to make a mountain out of a molehill once again.

    We'll have an idea...

Steve Jobs will speak at Macworld Tokyo later this week and, if history is any indication, he will likely address the issue.

So by Thursday, there should be some sort of indication or hint from Jobs as to what to expect in the end of quarter numbers in a few weeks.

    Even if...

Even if supply is a problem and hurts Apple this quarter, the moment supply is up, they'll have a good quarter to make up. After all, no matter how Apple faithful b**** when things go wrong, the moment enough supply exists, the golden-retriever effect (kicked five times in the head, but will come back six) will set in, and all faithful will return in droves to buy one. Pretty simple, really, no offense towards Mac folks, but I've seen it happen every single time Apple has had supply problems with in-demand hardware, and one has to admit there's more than a few times that this has happened..
