Lexmark today became the first printer manufacturer to ship new 4800 dpi inkjet printers with its new 2002 Z-line of Color Jetprinters. The $200 Z65 offers support for dual paper trays, 15 ppm color/21 ppm black speeds, and 4800 dpi resolution, while its sibling product, the $130 Z55 offers the same print speeds with 3600 dpi resolution. Both offer the new industry-leading resolutions on any paper type. The $90 Z45 has 15 ppm black/9 ppm color print speeds and 2400 x 1200 dpi, while the $70 Z35 offers the same resolution, but 11 ppm black/6 ppm color printing. The entry-level Z25 ($50) functions as either a single or dual-head printing (via an optional black cartridge), offers 1200 x 1200 dpi resolutions and 9 ppm black/6 ppm color print speeds. Availability for all printers is listed as "shipping soon."
