    Lack of Applications?

You mean Lack of Games right? If I want to play games I buy a playstation, it is cheaper and there are more games available. I use my computer for work. that is after all the original intention of the computer. I've got all the Apps I need. And It must be enough because I make a bundle of cash with it.

    phenom

The new iMac seems to be generating a fascinating phenomenon among "analysts" and reviewers.

This is another example of a review that begins on a negative tone (iMac overhyped, couldn't possibly be that good), and then goes on to say that, actually, the iMac is pretty amazing. The way he raves about video editing/DVD production and OSX stability makes the small comments about games and Windows software seem like afterthoughts.

If this really is a "rational" review, it would seem that at least some of the hype and hyperboly is justified and rational.

    General problem

I have a general problem with the article.

"Does it now make sense for longtime Windows sheep to join the Mac flock? A rational comparison is in order."

After reading the 3 paragraphs of Ranting this guy did it was plain and easy to tell that he was biased from the beginning and so therefore has no real ability to make a rational comparison. Then when he did go ahead and compare the usability and included software, all the comments favored the iMac. So what was the point of this story? I believe there really wasn't one.

    what a crock

This article tries to diss the iMac, but somehow can't muster the facts. At best, the typical 'no software' excuse (and whos fault is that? WE practically beg for versions of some programs and games, but Apple has done squat to wrangle up the best gaming porgrammers - X-box got them, we didn't)

Maybe if Forbes took his head out of his a** he would see that most companies don't care to make Mac versions of software/games - they have no incentive, but a motive under Microsoft licensing not to, or the very least, MS support to not support Apple in the realm of 'standards' (first it was 'Macs have no PCI slots for OpenGL supported vid cards', then it was 'Macs don't support OpenGL', then it was "Macs don't support AGP OpenGL vid cards) W T F

So yes, it was nice to read the article with the token thanks to iMovie, iTunes and iPhoto and a complimentary acknowledgement of the flat LCD - but geezus H christ in a chicken basket - it seems as though corporate ameriKa will never accept Apple again. PERIOD.

So get a tissue for the tears and let's BEG APPLE to move on getting those programmers & developers (developers, developers) and bury these MoFos where they live.

    Sub-powerbook

I know at least 5 people that would run to the Apple store and trade their 3lb Toshiba for the 3lb Apple the day it's on sale, but it must be a PowerBook class laptop, that is tiny, yet mighty. Many power users have big systems at home, but on the road they need something really really small.

    whatever

    Hey,
This is a fine article. He starts off by saying that people have been fawning a bit too much over the new iMac so he gets the complaints out of the way early. Then he goes on to say what he likes about it.
C'mon if Manes is starting to give kudos to the Mac in such large helpings, we should all be psyched.
So osiris and roehlstation, Quit the typical Mac-user whining and be happy for a good review.

If you knew more about Manes, you'd know he hates Windows far, far more than the Mac, he just calls out any shortcomings he sees. You're all just fussy because it was of the "Three and a half star" variety and not the "Five Star because it's a Mac" variety.

    How about...

Why doesn't this guy "rationally" compare OS X to Windows XP? He faults the Mac for nonsense, including the old cliche about Macs not having enough software (what apps IS he talking about? Games? That's the only area where Macs lack software). Why doesn't he compare the Mac with Windows XP both running Office?

Finally, he is so full of S*** to say that the Mac has problems with file compatibility. 99% of all files are cross platform, this guy probably doesn't know what he's doing so he cannot get things to work properly.

All in all, he's a twit and it doesn't surprise me that he's an analyst, since they are mostly twits on par with meteorologists.

    whining?

It just the truth pal. The same excuses come up every time a review is posted - LACK OF SOFTWARE. After a while it wears thin, yet nothing changes.

Take your crumbs and be happy.
