c|net notes that handheld software sales tripled in 2001, following a sharp decline in the inflated prices of the previous year. The average price of a handheld application dropped from over $40 to $30 or less -- a shift in a trend that could have led to software titles costing nearly 1/4 of the original price paid for a handheld device. The Personal Technology article also notes that Palm Computing continues to dominate the handheld market with 97% of all handheld applications sold in 2001 being designed for the Palm OS.

    eWeek...

eWeek would have led me to believe that Palm was dead and Windows CE had taken over completely. No surprise - lots of two-page Microsoft ads. They pointed out that a Congressman costs the Bells $14,000 on average - well, eWeek's editorial bias costs a bit more, it seems...but still is up for sale (IMHO)!

    Go Palm

It is still the easiest to use, most compatible with the Mac and just plain simplified. I can take the data I need on the road. I have no need or desire to write a Word Document on a PDA that gives me a whole 3 hours of battery life like anything running Windows CE.
