Tim Bajarin, computer consultant and leading computer industry analyst, explains why Apple's new line of Macs (and Mac OS X) will help convert PC users. "The Titanium has given me some real reasons to consider making it a more integral part of my computing lifestyle. The new Mac OS X is by far the best windowing operating system on the market today."

    We knew that

We, Mac users, knew that all along.

    Mixed Blessing

I'm happy to give Mr. Bajarin points for being willing to make a public statement regarding the quality of OS X, but on the other hand, his facts are no more accurate than many of those that damn the system. There are enough errors and mistakes in the article that he would be flooded with flames had he not come out in OS X's favor -- but do we really want to the public to believe that the Mac OS is great for media apps, but not practical for anything else? HIs review seems to suggest that the Mac is great for a second computer, but if you have to go with just one....

The G5 guy might be right

there are very subtle hints in the article that the G5 might be coming. The plot is thickening.

if you'd play Revolution Number 9 backwards (from the Beatles' "White Album"), you would know that the G5 is coming out on EXACTLY November 25th, 2002.

    like, duh.

    Windowing System?

I guess he means a mouse oriented user interface? Isn't it interesting when Apple's own innovations somehow become a "Windows" system.

Whatever, I still do not understand why anybody would voluntarily use Windows---especially when it is harder to maintain than the Hubble telescope and less reliable than the Russian phone company.

    Apple can rename any

chip Motorola will supply in quantity a "G5", so it may as well be tomorrow. I think what we Mac users are waiting for isn't just a name designation but an expert completion of a totally new chip architecture with higher clock rates.

In the meantime all the G4-based computers are still exceptional compared to those other guys'.
