ExtensionsTracker is a new, $10 shareware utility that keeps track of what extensions have been installed in your System Folder and when, easing the process of locating possible conflicts.

    difference?

And what would be the difference to the indispensable, much configurable freeware "Installer Observer"?

    Difference? Awful...

Installer Observer 3.0.3 is not only a way better program in every respect, but it also does not rely on installing an Extension itself like ExtensionsTracker does. ExtensionsTracker also pops an annoying dialog prompting you to register. I see no advantage to ExtensionsTracker. Not only is Installer Observer more powerful/complete, but it's also completely free! ExtensionsTracker costs $10-- what a joke!

I do consider Installer Observer 3.0.3 a must have, especially for Admin-types.

    Don't most Mac users...

already have a copy of Conflict Catcher? If all one wants to do is track the extensions, CC8 can do this quite well.

I agree that Installer Observer is a MUCH better deal.

    But what would be better.

What would be nice is a tracker program that connects online and tells you when you have a conflict and when a newer version of an extension is out.

    Shareware

Shareware is an anachronism these days. Why do people even try? Open source, folks. It works.

    Extensions

Extensions are an anachronism these days. OSX, it works.
