Propellerhead announces OSX Reason 2.0

Propellerhead Software announced yesterday full Mac OS X support of Reason 2.0, at the Frankfurt Musikmesse conference in Germany. Reason 2.0 is an advanced audio editing studio that includes effects, a polyphonic 'Graintable' synthesizer several sequencers. The update will sell for $90 to current Reason owners, non-upgrade pricing has not been announced. Yesterday, we noted the announcement of Cubase SX for Mac OS X at Musikmesse.

    Expensive update!

    Or am I being unrealistic? I'd love an OS X native version, but should I have to pay $90 for it? Admittedly, the new instruments look good, but sometimes I feel us early adopters get a raw deal on upgrade pricing.

    This is a wonderful week for OSX: finally all the talk about Core Audio and Low Latency and the death of OMS come true. I was already afraid I would have to buy a PC for audio. Now let's wait for the first performance reports...

    I agree $90 isn't a bad upgrade price. I would be really upset if it wasn't a true version upgrade, but was just to add OS X compatibility. The new instruments seem worth it. The detachable sequencer should really help clear up the clutter in the interace. I also welcome the death of OMS (and free midi). Judging by the few chances I have had using midi in X, Reason should be a lot easier to deal with...
