Myster PR3 is a cross platform file sharing utility similar in concept to other utilities such as Napster, Morpheus and Gnutella. It allows you to share your files with others and download files being shared by others on the Myster Network, over the internet using a peer-to-peer file sharing protocols. [Classic, Carbon]

Surprisingly

it actually does...although it doesn't have the network size of gnutella.

�p*** shouldn't be a surprise. All of the e-commerce people owe their existence to the internet p*** industry. After all, they're the ones who did the initial development.

Pretty forward no? heheh.. Ah well I suppose they might as well include it, after all p*** Drives Hotline and Carracho ain't far behind.. Wish that they could just have a decent app on the front end..

good news

This is good. Why? Because development of a Mac peer-to-peer client seems to laaaaaaaaaaag way behind the other OS for most other systems.

In fact, just as soon as we get a decent client, the network gets shut down by some court order. It's good to be in early for a change. Now, where's my p***... ;-)

i know a few HL servers, i go to maybe three servers total, and they have exactly zero p*** on them... decent app on the front end? frogblast. of course, it is is for OS X only.

is garbage... use Sputnix, OpenAG, iSwipe, Aquisition, there are others and some are OS X only... see versiontracker.com, they are all free and are somewhat different from one another, Sputnix is the best AudioGalaxy client... iSwipe shows promise, in spite of its butt-ugly UI, of being a good client for all networks (gnutella, opennap, etc) except AudioGalaxy. more questions? get them answered at versiontracker.com by doing a search for the above freewares, info aplenty there about what they do and don't do.

btw, java clients: pffft!! even with the recent java update for OS X, java is java and is no replacement for native OS X code: Cocoa and Carbon. word to yer mum.

kazaa is good.
LimeWire is fine as a Java app and the latest Java 2 1.3.1 update works wonders in OS X.
audio galaxy? fine if you're only searching for mp3's. that limits the categories wouldn't you say? LimeWire (Gnutella) is the best option for OS X right now but it uses a central server unlike Kazaa.

Hi from the Myster Team

Just a message from the Myster development team to those of you out there with some problems.

1. The 'freezing' you may be experiencing is actually a 15-20 second pause as myster starts up and
reads through some things. After the pause, myster will work just fine. Just have a little patience..
This pause has been noted and we are actively searching for a remedy so stay tuned.

2. The network is small but growing rapidly so keep those servers up to encourage others to come on
board. Lets not depend on other P2P networks to lavish us with second hand attention. Lets build our
own P2P network. That said, Myster is fully cross platform (Mac Classic and OS X, Windows, Linux,
Solaris and others). Any computer with a net connection and running Java 1.1 can run myster. But Half
of our population (user base) is on the Mac side. Keep up the support. It is much appreciated.

3. New versions of Myster are coming out all the time though we don't have a news letter going out to
news agencies (will be coming soon) so visit our site often for news updates and new version releases.

4. Read the documentation to get a better grasp of what myster can do and how to use it. We've tried
to make the UI as simple as we can but we know there are a few things people will have trouble
getting.

5. Share those files and set your file directories properly in the Download preferences. Proper file
type separation is critical to the efficiency of our network. We're planning an automatic system to
organize your file structure within your shared folders but its a ways off so keep those files online and
sorted well. Thanks for your support.
