As noted earlier today, Apple is offering Apple Store customers $150 off their next order, in celebration of the Apple Store's third birthday. The offer expires December 19 and is being mailed directly to customers. It's unclear if all customers will get the coupon or not.

Spend a few thousand $ at the Apple Store during the past year. Worked for me.
My girlfriend bought a G4 for her office and received one. I spent $30 for OS X Beta and got zilch. :)
We buy all our Macs at a local dealer. My only purchase direct from Apple has been OS X. I'd love to pick up one of those refub Cubes for $1299, add AirPort and AppleCare, then get $150 off -- but I guess Apple won't be sending me the $150 coupon. :-( maybe the $25 one?
Is this an effort to either clear inventories or get sales?
Apple recently seems to giving many rebates, vouchers & offers. I am not complaining, I am just wondering whether this generosity is sustainable. Surely it would be better to lower prices permanently?
Rebates, etc., are more about clearing inventory for new product manufacture, launch, sales, & support.
Don't get me wrong-- I'd love to see entry-level G4s get down to $1299 permanently (pls pls pls ditch the DVD-RAM, it's such a bad idea)-- but this isn't really generosity.

I ordered an ibook but never paid it (on the nl store). Therefore my order was cancelled but i got the rebate coupon after all.
I recieved a bizarre email from apple saying they were offering me a gift, something about a third birthday and a "code". that's it. Nothing about a dollar amount or what to do with this "code"
