Following our note yesterday regarding $1300 refurbished G4 Cubes at the Apple Store, several readers point out that Apple is now offering new G4 Cubes for $1350 to educational customers. Educational customers can also purchase the G4 Cube and 17" Display for $1820, or the G4 Cube with 15" Display for $2290. Premiere Apple Developers can also purchase new G4 Cubes for $1300, with a 17" display for $1650, or with a 15" display for $2000. Also, one reader who makes several purchases at the Apple Store reports receiving a $150 "thank you" gift certificate good for a short period of time.

    A thank you gift cert?

That's good. I hope Apple keeps up that sort of thing.

    Only reasonable

This is no deal--it only sets the price of the cube where it should have been from the beginning. If Apple resets the price permanently, then good for them. If this is a short sale that ends once they clear out their inventory, you can bet it wont be the last inventory problem they have.

    Apple is losing it...

I've owned Apple computers since 1992 and today I got my *first* call from Apple giving me a sales pitch on their products. I was also told that *all* computers are $500 off right now.
Is apple hurting that bad that they are calling people now? I *hate* sales people that blindly call me.

    Calls aren't a new thing

Well, not very new, at least..a month or two ago I received a call from California, from a guy at Apple, saying that their records indicate I owned a Performa 630CD, and that it's probably time for me to update my system. I don't know why he didn't have the following info, but I informed him that since purchasing the 630CD, I've also bought a Rev B iMac, iMac DVSE, and an iBook SE..all of which I registered. What a waste to call me. They really can't get anything right...

    ADC discounts

The Apple Developer Connection member discounts you mentioned in fact are being offered to Select ($500/year) as well as Premiere ($3000) members. Makes me wish I had a requirement for a 450 MHz Cube and 15-inch Studio Display: $1999 is a great price.

    old macs go where?

Just wondering what you guys do with your performas, imacs rev As, rev Bs where you buy the cubes and the G4s. I have this insatiable urge to get the cube but I can't bear seeing my imac/ibook and justify getting a new "toy".
