Easypress has released Atomik 3.0, the latest version of its QuarkXPress-to-XML software. Version 3.0 now enables content to be identified at both a paragraph and character level, allowing specific phrases or text within documents to be converted into separate XML tags based on QuarkXPress character style sheets or the text's typographical properties such as font type, size and colour.

Users can also specify tolerance levels for inline content and can also choose between three different types of content matching including style only; style and attributes; and attributes only. Atomik 3.0 also includes error handling through the new automated content reports

The suggested retail price for Atomik 3.0 is £5000, $7000 or 8100 Euro depending on the country of purchase. Multi-user pricing is also available. Atomik 3.0 Developer Edition is £15,000, $20,000 or 25,000 Euro.

    For $20000

You could have someone spend a year converting your documents into XML by hand.

I guess that depends on how many publications you need to convert into XML, how quickly you want it done and how accurately. I know of companies that spend over 1000 man-hours every week, just copying and pasting out of quark docs. I'll let you do the math and tell me that the 20k would be paid for pretty quickly. Of course if you only do a 2 page newsletter then it doesn't sound like this is the product for you.
