WiebeTech today announced larger capacity, improved DesktopGB drives (in configurations up to 120GB). Other changes to the dual FireWire/USB 1.1/2.0 drives include faster data transfer rates (updated drivers), quieter operation and lower prices. The company claims "real-world" transfer rates of more than 30MB/sec using 7,200 rpm drives. Pricing is $250, $300, $370 for 60GB, 80GB, and 120GB models. The base unit is $160 and supports capacities up to 160GB through updated firmware. Both the firmware update and quieter fan assembly are available for free to existing customers.
