Several MacNN Readers report that MusicCity continues to affirm that it will release a Macinosh version of Morpheus in spring 2002 with emails to users. Morpheus is a free file sharing application that is currently only available for Windows. Users can search the hard drives of other members for Video, Music and executable files.

    Problem

    This app has security problems under Windows, I would not use it.
    Someone could access your C: drive on Windows.

    The "problem" on Windows is not just for Windows, but for all platforms. It is also NOT a bug!
    What it is, is some people accidentally check the box to share their whole hard drive. Since Morpheus uses the HTTP protocol, (just on a different port than usual web servers), if you point a web browser at the guy's IP address and the proper port, you'll get a directory listing. This is the way it's supposed to work; it's just that some people who don't know what the heck they're doing decide to open their whole drive.
    So, if you're not stupid, you're fine.

    Nice

    This is a really nice program. There are about as many files as LimeWire (Gnutella) but it's a lot faster. One of the "must have" programs for a lot of PC users, even though it's mostly for illegal purposes:(

    ...mainly to run Morpheus. It's an incredible, dare say 'killer' app that makes Hotline look like child's play.
