Dean Saxe writes: "I just returned from Lenox Mall in Atlanta where I happily found that Eddie Bauer is no longer in business. In its place is a sign indicating that Apple will be opening an Apple Store 'soon.'" Apple continues to open retail stores in an effort to expand its market share.

    how about

setting up a mac with photoshop running os X and a pc with photoshop running xp. Put them on Monster sized UPS systems so they don't ever have to turned off. They put a digital counter over each machine, Number of restarts due to system instability since february 2002. I think that would impress people. Macs 0, Pc 200. The first time macs would enjoy having the lower score, hehe. Set these up in all apple stores. Or how about two machines designed to recieve emails and a counter showing number of times each machine has been infected with a virus. lol.

    Apple Stores

In various interviews Apple execs have said that the stores will not go into cities just because they are major markets. The target is to go where Apple has some foothold as well as areas with high traffic (natch). Houston is Compaq country (used to also be Enron as well!). I believe that there won't be more than another 12 stores opened during 2002. The economy dictates Apple slow down a bit.

    Orlando

My guess is, that If Orlando is scheduled for an Apple Store, it would most likely be in the Mall at Millennia, which doesn't open until October. (The other 3 Florida stores --Tampa, Miami, West Palm -- are all in malls operated by Mall at Millennia's management company, Taubman.)

Wow, that's an interesting (and nice size) shaped store. I wonder what they're going to put in the top right corner....the bathrooms? An expanded Mac Genius section?

It kinda sucks that they're on the 3rd floor, but I am extremely excited to see them here in ATL. I just wish they would respond to my job application. Has anyone else applied for the job in ATL and heard back yet?
