    Ok...

Good progress in game play. Some nice realistic features such as being able to climb and have to bandage your wounds, but the graphics and animations just arnt there yet. but beta 3 looks most promising. see there site for pics of there new models and graphics. but for now i am sticking with Q3f and drooling over there new release which is due out very soon.

    Rocks

I've been playing for a year now, and it really rocks. Like it better then CS and i can play it on my mac.

Nice combo of Quake3 and Rainbow six. Fast paced action, with good playability. And with that, nice team play and things like medics, silencers, IR

    How do I install it?

There is no mac-specific installer for this like the manula suggests, how do I install the 2.4 version?

    to install it

the upgrade version (21 MB) is just a zip file. Unzip it and put all the files in your Quake3/q3ut2/ folder

    urban terror install?

I've never actually played this mode before (shame on me , I know!) and have been having a little trouble getting it up and running. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
First of all I am running OSX 10.1.2 with 576MB RAM on a G4 cube, Quake 3 v1.31 (latest beta build).

I have downloaded the full UT 150mb v2.4 files and also the 72mb UT installer. The problem is that Stuffit will not decode the .bin UT installer (the first 150mb file was no problem) It's probably a corrupt file, I know, but I have downloaded it from several different links on the UT site (most of the mac links are dead) to no avail. If anyone has a solution or a link they know to have a "good" installer file they could make me a very happy man!

    Cheers

    Version 2.2 of the...

"full installer" for Urban Terror (Mac OS) is bogus as far as I can tell. Instead download the orginal (version 2.0) installer for Mac OS and then download the upgrade files (vs. 2.0 to 2.2, vs. 2.3 to 2.3, and vs. 2.3 to 2.4). The full installer (2.0) is Macintosh specific. The upgrader files are not.

    Could have been excellent

...but it's not. IMO, beta 2.3 was far superior. With the new net code, there are a host of problems that weren't in 2.3. Already I have experienced almost all of them (You can get hit after going around a corner where they shouldn't be able to hit you, eg its a stone wall, and after every round you get connection interrupted, and most attempts to join a server fail with an error, or they crash q3). Also, it seems a LOT easier to get headshots. If you run into an enemy around a corner, so you both have your guns stuck through each other, you seem to get a headshot if you just hold down fire and shoot into their gut. Crazy.

The M4 probably was too accurate, yes, but why would i now get MORE headshots at long range, if the spread is greater in b2.4? (which it is, to be sure...) At least the SPAS is wholeheartedly improved. It used to be some sort of nuclear-fusion propelled shotgun that you could use to kill people with at about 50 yards, beyond the range of a shotgun. Oh yeah, the beretta sounds lame now. And the M4 sounds are tinny and muted. They used to sound impressive.
