AnchorDesk David Coursey's first week update in his month long Mac challenge offers praise for his new flat-panel iMac desktop and the Mac experience: "Overall, I'd rate the Macintosh photo 'experience' significantly superior to Windows XP, although XP has the basics covered."

    And so recent..

He said this on Monday, guys. Let's get rid of it. He's written another column since.

And next time I'm settling for nothing less than an hour with Stevie boy hisself.

    RDF

This is more proof of how incredibly powerful Steve's RDF is. This guy is under it's influence, and he doesn't even know it!

I think what he's saying is true, but most Wintel drones wouldn't come to such conclusions on their own. It must be the RDF. If only more ChumpUSA salesmen had functional RDFs, then the Mac market share would quadruple in a few months...

    I agree w/Overclocked

The CompUSA/Circuit City Mac areas are attrocious. In fact, the way they market their Mac stuff just reinforces all the negative stereotypes about the Mac (ie no software, no hardware upgrades, slow, etc). Try to find a sales rep who can speak intelligently about what exactly a Mac can do.
In the same vein, I think this is great exposure (even though it is bland) for Apple. For years they've preached to the choir. Now they've got a door-to-door missionary who isn't talking about clock cycles, megabips, and a host of other specs that really mean nothing to the average user. This guy is talking usability (Mac's big advantage), industrial design (look how clean his desk is), and "Where do you want to go today? Because, on second thought, this iMac thingy will take you there in a lot more style than that beige piece of c***."

    re: first week?

Some people are darn hard to please... So David Coursey maybe isn't, by some people's lights, the world's greatest columnist (though I like him well enough), and yes, a heart-to-heart with Steve Jobs himself isn't an option available to most would-be converts.

But criticising Coursey for (supposedly) saying such things as "Mac is nice... Mac is great... I like Mac..." Well, how dare he! The insolence of the man! I mean, what would you rather -- that he regurgitate the usual c*** the PC world gets to hear about the Mac (Macs don't have the software, Macs can't network, Macs are on their way out, etc, etc)? Because that, as we all know, is what your average ill-informed PC journalist will resort to, if he has neither the time nor the patience to find out where the Mac's really at nowadays.

I think, unless Coursey commits starts committing egregious errors in his articles (as per Eric Hellweg's recent effort in Business 2.0), we should cut him some slack -- after all, praise of any sort is much better than criticism based on facts pulled out of the air.
